Apprentice, Art Apprenticeship Network 2026
Salma is an interdisciplinary artist and designer from Vancouver, BC, currently completing her degree in Industrial Design at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Her practice moves between sculpture and industrial design, working with materials such as metal, wood, textiles, and glass.
She views sculpture and industrial design as closely connected practices, both offering ways to explore materials, form, and how we experience objects. Through making and experimentation, she is interested in understanding how things are put together, how they function, and the stories they can carry. Her work is driven by curiosity and observation, often beginning with everyday objects, overlooked details, or an interest in what a material can do.
