Amelie Swayze

Apprentice, Art Apprenticeship Network 2026

Based in Vancouver, BC, Amelie Swayze is a second-year MFA student at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, having previously earned her BFA at Western University in London, Ontario.

Amelie’s artistic practice explores her personal relationship to femininity alongside the broader cultural expectations and visual representations that shape its social meaning. Through an examination of visual media and digital culture, her work investigates how femininity is both constructed and communicated through dominant representations and visual codes. In making her paintings, she considers how visual culture informs the relationship between individual identity and the social performance of femininity.

Amelie is currently apprenticing under the mentorship of Canadian artist Landon Mackenzie through the Artist Apprenticeship Network.
