Emil Vargas (b.1999) is a filmmaker, cinematographer and photographer. Born in Mexico City, they live and work in Vancouver B.C; the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

Since 2016 their work has been exhibited in galleries, including the Museo Tamayo (MX) and the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego (USA). They also received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition issued by the U.S House of Representatives for their artistic accomplishments on said exhibitions.

Emil currently studies Film and Screen Arts at Emily Carr University of Art & Design (CAD) as a senior, and currently works in independent film sets while also directing and producing their own films, while maintaining a successful photography practice specializing in analog mediums.
