Marcia Higuchi is a communication designer and researcher from UNESP, Brazil. Currently she is a MDes candidate at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, and a member of the Emily Carr DESIS Lab (Design of Social Innovation for Sustainability). Her research is focused on which ways design can empower people’s ecological wisdom and political agency as stewards in the environmental crisis. How can we build community of learning that is inclusive of more-than-human beings, to help us navigate the very complex ecological problems we are facing.

Through a dialogical and reflexive approach, focusing in critical pedagogies of empowerment, she aims to investigate the importance of storytelling, how our own personal experiences are brought into a broader understanding of our social relations can affect our sense of interdependence and belonging to nature.
