Rutuja Haldankar
Designer, Design for Startups, 2022

Currently living in Vancouver, BC, Rutuja is pursuing her Master’s degree in Interaction Design at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Originally from India, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Product Design. Her previous experience includes working as a Design Researcher at Tata Elxsi in Bangalore, India for a year. An avid researcher and experimentalist, Rutuja is interested in exploring the various concepts, beliefs, and theories of the world. Her goal is to make a significant impact on people’s lives by creating meaningful experiences based on an understanding of their ideologies, wants and needs. Additionally, she is interested in the intersection of healthcare and design. By understanding the rural healthcare system’s gaps and providing a dedicated maternal care service, her Bachelor’s thesis, titled ‘Abhaya’, sought to eliminate the rising deaths caused by Postpartum Hemorrhage in rural India. While pursuing her Master’s degree, she continues to explore these spaces and tangents.
