Xinwei Che is an installation-performance artist who looks at the residue of time through material-based processes and the phenomenology of space. She grew up in Singapore, and graduated with a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 2015. She was awarded the Young Talent Programme Prize, and had her first solo show in the Ion Art Space (Singapore) in 2017. With the support of the National Art Council of Singapore and the National Art Gallery of Kuala Lumpur, she has collaborated with communities to create libraries for shadows, and for fears. In her current MFA program at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, she is developing temporal works underpinned by slowness and attention to question the commodification of time in our everyday lives.
