Shumka x Griffin
Shumka x Griffin is a new partnership that recognizes the achievements of Master of Fine Arts students at ECU and supports their professional development through three residency awards.
This two year-long partnership creates a platform for new graduates to transition from their studies to a professional practice through extensive artist residencies that provide resources and networking opportunities.
The partnership will provide ECU MFA students with studio space, materials budget, programming opportunities such as an open studio and artist talk, and studio visit from Griffin Art Projects director Lisa Baldissera and other visual arts professionals. ECU artists will also have a chance to participate in Griffin Art Projects’ youth outreach programs.
Shumka x Griffin offers
- Opportunities for MFA students to participate in prestigious, public-facing residencies
- New connections between MFA students and visual art professionals
- Support to participants through physical and financial resources, expert guidance, and public exposure
- A dedicated setting for students to expand upon their thesis and studio practice through art production, public engagement, external communications, curation and artist/organization relations
