We are pleased to announce 14 art apprenticeship opportunities for senior Emily Carr graduate and undergraduate students (in year 3 or 4) in 2022 as part of Art Apprenticeship Network.

These paid apprenticeships give students the opportunity to work directly with and receive mentorship from established artists and cultural workers. Students are paid for up to 150 hours of work, dependent on the scope of the project.

The mentors in 2022 are Annie Briard, Brit Bachmann and Rachel Lau of UNIT/PITT, Christine Howard Sandoval, Emily Hermant, Emmy Lee Wall of Capture Photo Festival, Germaine Koh, Glenn Lewis, Julie Andreyev, Landon Mackenzie, Lindsay McIntyre, Rachelle Sawatsky, Sara-Jeanne Bourget and Mark Johnsen of Patio Press, Stephanie Rebick of Vancouver Art Gallery, and Valérie Walker.

Qualifications

In order to be eligible to apply to this program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Be enrolled in 3rd or 4th year undergraduate or graduate studies at Emily Carr University of Art + Design (all programs) in Spring 2022. Students graduating in 2022 are eligible to apply
• Be available to work off-site 5-15 hours/week for the duration of the apprenticeship* (dates variable – determined by mentors)
• Have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and a flexible, creative attitude
• Have the ability to work independently with an adaptable and professional approach

* All in-person activities will be compliant with public health guidelines and orders set forth by the Province of British Columbia. Students participating in work or activities happening off campus may be required to provide proof of full vaccination. Please check project scopes for more information.

International students applying for the program will need a SIN (Social Insurance Number) prior to the start date. Please get in touch with us if you need guidance on how to obtain a SIN.
