Research Residency: Patio Press

The Audain Faculty of Art and Shumka Centre for Creative Entrepreneurship have partnered to establish a Research Residency to connect students with a community or industry organization, allowing students to learn from experts in a hands-on way while producing new work.

The inaugural Research Residency will feature Mark Johnsen and Sara-Jeanne Bourget of Patio Press, who will engage students as fellows through their participation in PRNT 305: Special Topics in Print Media (Topic: Patio Press x Emily Carr) in Spring 2022. Students will develop their own printmaking projects, co-create a publication with Patio Press, and showcase their work in a public exhibition. Patio Press is an artist-run project committed to supporting artists with a focus on education, production support and alternative modes of dissemination, with a focus on printmaking.

This residency is funded by the Co-op and Work Integrated Learning Initiative of the Ministry of Advanced Education.
