Art Pathways

Pathways for Creative Futures equips emerging Emily Carr artists with the applied knowledge, practical skills, and mentorship from faculty and industry experts needed to confidently manage their creative practices and excel in collaborative projects, through two specialized courses offered by the Audain Faculty of Art.

VAST 310: The Art of Entrepreneurship: Navigating Creative Practice empowers students to manage their creative practices with confidence, focusing on developing essential skills in project management, arts administration, and marketing tailored for the arts. Students will gain practical tools to navigate the business side of art, supported by faculty and visiting mentors. VAST 310 is taught by Annie Briard and Cemre Demiralp.

PHOT 316: Studio Photography engages lens-based Emily Carr artists in a collaborative project with a community partner, allowing artists the opportunity to enhance both their technical and interpersonal skills. This course emphasizes cultural sensitivity and effective communication, crucial for success in today’s diverse world. PHOT 316 is taught by Birthe Piontek.

Both Art Pathways courses are offered in the Fall 2024 term. Find if you’re eligible to take this course through Connect.
